dUBLIN PRIDE

Dublin Pride Festival

What is Dublin Pride?

Dublin Pride

Dublin Pride is one of the most exciting events to take place in Dublin every year. It is a celebration of diversity and inclusion. Pride celebrates LGBTQIA+ people and families and their friends and families and allies. It is an amazing opportunity to showcase all the wonderful communities and advocacy groups and to celebrate their victories and highlight the great work they are doing.

Dublin Pride Parade

The Dublin Pride parade begins on O’Connell Street and Parnell Square. The Parade is one of the most coordinated events in the country with over 250 different groups taking part and over 10,000 people.

From O’Connell Street, the parade will turn onto Eden Quay and then pass Liberty Hall, where the first large-scale march for LGBTQIA+ rights in Ireland started in the 1980s. The Parade will cross the Liffey at Talbot Memorial Bridge and travel along City Quay, Lombard Street and Westland Row. You can join the parade at any time, or you can watch from the sidelines!

The Dublin Pride Parade ends at Pride Village. Pride Village has a full day of festivals in Merrion Square and is suitable for all ages. It is supported by Dublin City Council and festival sponsors.

The festival includes 2 stages with entertainment, community zones, family areas, quiet zones, food vendors and a sustainability zone. Be sure not to miss out!

Dublin Pride is also a protest march, a march to protest the inequalities that sadly still exist in Ireland and across the globe. It is also a march of solidarity. A day to celebrate everyone, a day to mourn those we have lost and a day to show the new generation of LGBTQIA+ people that they are cherished, listened to and not alone.

Bartley’s History

Named after Bartley Dunne, Bartley’s was one of the first gay bars in Dublin in the early 1970s. The bar was noted for its eclectic clientele and was a critical point of social interactions during its time. The word "gay" was not used then and it was a criminal offence at the time. At Bartley Dunne's there was a place for everybody.

Bartley’s has proudly been welcoming people of all different backgrounds since its opening.
